Part 1:
Why?Why are stories so important to childhood? Why do people read stories to kids? What do the kids get out of this experience? What kinds of things do kids learn from the actual stories and from the experience?

I think stories are so important to children because when they hear story they get idea of what life is about. even though when we read stories to kids we tell them unreal stories they still get some thing out of it. they get their learning ability devolped a early age.

Part 2: Why? Later in life...Why do older people (high school and beyond) read stories? What do these readers get out of this experience? What kinds of things do older reader learn from the actual stories?

i think we all need to read and we read because as we read we learn a lot about whats around us and what is to come. what we learn from reading is every thing because when we read we always find something new that we did not know before for example if I read story about the war i might think I know a lot but still find out about how many people died and more.

Part 3: Why? In our nationwhy are stories so important to our nation? The New York Times best seller lists are one of the most powerful media tools in the world. People flock to by the books listed there. How do stories fit into the fabric of our national identity? How do stories people write create a forum for the discussion of concerns and issues in our nation? What do stories allow people (the writer and the reader) to do?

the stories are inportant to our nation because we write whats on our mind to inform people to learn about whats going on and it might be a good wake up call for some people. we all have different mind and we need to know what kind of things are in every one else mind. i thing the writers write book best on what they might hear or experience and write about it.

Part 4: Your storiesWhat were some stories you remember from your childhood? Why do you think these ones stand out? think of actual books as well as stories you were told orally by people. Whom do you connect to these stories?

i remember my dad telling me about how i should go to school every day. that story stand out to me now because i understand what you could get from going to school. if i don't go to school i would not get to take good care of my family later in life because i see a lot of people now that could not give their kids what they want and that can not be me.

Part 5: Characteristics of a well-told storyDevelop a list of 7-10 characteristics that stories should have. Be specific. Do not just say that "stories should have good characters." What makes a character good? Think about what the author should do and how the reader should feel when reading.

I think story should always have.
  1. good story teller
  2. story that every one could relate to or some thing you would want to read
  3. nice begaining
  4. good ending
  5. problem being solved
  6. words readers could relate to
  7. writer most feel the story

as an Oromo person when i hear about whats going on back home, i feel the pain as of i was there. there are many thing on this earth i don't agree with and war is one of those things. back in Ethiopia there is war going on with the Oromos and Ethiopians. i hate hearing about it all people talk about is who died and how many people have been killed. but the most painful one is hearing that those that are not even part of the war or just normal people that are living there with the name of Oromo are being hart.
many people are running away so they they could stay safe. but that is not working for them because every where they go there is something wrong going on. for example if they go to Somali there is war there too if I'm not wrong they are fighting with Ethiopia and when they run to Kanya they have their own voting problem there too. so i feel like the Oromo people are left all alone with out place to stay that are safe for them so as Oromo person i don't know what to do because i want to do something but i feel like there isn't much to do from here to help those in need of help but i try to stay up every day because some of those people are my family.

this play writing was hard for me because i was sick most of the time. i did not know what to write about so i thought of some issues that i see in my community. so i start writing about the problem youth face after they come to america from their home land. i don't think play writing is something i would do for fun but i would not mind writing it if i have to.

2. If you could give advice to a kid who was 5 years old or 10 years old (pick one), what advice would you give him or her on growing up in today's world? Would you give advice based upon your own experiences? Would you give advice based upon what you see in others? Would your advice be based on their thoughts, their choices, peer issues, school? Explain your advice and why you give it. Write at least 100 words.

if i have to give advice to a kid that is 5 years old i would advice him or her bast on my experiences because i can't talk about any one elses exerience but mine. and my advice to this kid would be to follow his or her dreams. i give this advice because you have to have something to look forward to in this world. if you don't have any thing to look forward to you would never move up in life and change your life to better yourself. other thing that goes well with following yuor dreams is never give up. if you have a dream it doesn't mean any thing if you give up on it.

3. Great works of literature can last a long time. Jane Austen's novels (including Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility) are still popular almost 200 years after they were first published. Anne Bradstreet's poems have survived about 400 years. The works of Greek playwright Euripides (who wrote Medea) have survived for over 2000 years. What do you think causes great literary works to live forever? Could you ever foresee yourself writing something that lasts that long? (Write at least 75 words.)

i think this words last for long period of time because the writers don't just focus on one thing they write about thing that any one could relate to. many people use this word and people are using it it would never go away. it would just keep on going getting past dawn to the next generations. as for me i think i could write something or start something that people would remember for very long time if not 2000 years maybe 150i think that is long enough for me if people remembers my work for that long
